Fara is a Nigerian street food common in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. It is fried grasshopper/Locust. The grasshoppers are caught from the bush, washed, parboiled and dried for about twenty four hours before deep frying them.
Fara is crunchy and delicious. This Nigerian street food is eaten with dried pepper called Yaji.
Some people fondly call this Nigerian street food 'Desert Shrimps'
