Traditional Ukrainian Food Challenge w/ Shashlik, Vareniki, and Borscht!!
In late August 2019, my friends Christopher Lucido and Todd Konitzer traveled with me all the way to Ukraine to meet our friends Lucas (long-time subscriber) and Sandra. The first thing we did was travel to Poltava, Ukraine for an incredible festival where I got to participate in a traditional Ukrainian food challenge!! This was an "exhibition" where I attempted to eat 1kg of shashlik (pork), 1kg of vareneki (dumplings), and 1kg of borscht soup. Delicious!! There was just a one sitting time limit and I was trying to finish the traditional 3kg meal as fast as possible. The festival organizers had a group of Ukrainian women singing and dancing behind me which made the event so much fun!!
